Portland startup Chirpify, which first gained attention by facilitating purchases over Twitter and Facebook, has bigger ambitions.
The company wants to plug into big marketing campaigns, using hashtags and other social media conventions to connect advertisers with consumers.
So Chirpify plans to announce a new service today, something it calls “#actiontags.” The idea is that shoppers with a Chirpify account could instantly subscribe to newsletters, vote in TV competitions, or buy a product — by responding on Twitter to a message they see on TV with a social media hashtag such as #vote, #buy or #enter.
